Starr-Mathews Agency, Inc. is a locally owned independent insurance agency that has served Northwest Georgia since 1920. The principals include James S. Mathews, W. Craig Mashburn, and Robert M. McGlon.

Founded in 1920...

This agency has been built on a solid foundation of integrity, honesty, and hard work. Jim Mathews' grandfather, James H. Starr, started the agency in 1920 to serve the community of Calhoun, Georgia. In 1953 Mr. Starr was joined by his son in law, Bill D. Mathews. The agency expanded to include offices throughout Northwest Georgia. As the third generation family member, Jim Mathews joined the agency in 1977.

We currently have over thirty employees who specialize in personal, commercial, life and health insurance coverages. We also have a separate claims department to assist our customers in the event of a loss. Our staff, with an average tenure of over ten years, is dedicated to providing our customers with the best service available.
